1 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE TENNESSEE YMCA YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT |

3 | Section 1: Terms in this act, unless the context requires otherwise, shall be defined as follows: |
4 | Ozempic: Ozempic is a weekly injection that helps lower blood sugar by helping the pancreas |
5 | make more insulin. It is not approved for weight loss, but some physicians prescribe it to be used |
6 | for weight loss. |
7 | Type II Diabetes: With type 2 diabetes, your body doesn’t use and produce insulin well and can’t |
8 | keep blood sugar at normal levels. |
9 | Weight Loss: Weight loss is a decrease in body weight resulting from either voluntary (diet, |
10 | exercise) or involuntary (illness) circumstances |
11 | Class A misdemeanor: possession of a prescribed medication that does not belong to you or giving |
12 | someone a prescription drug that does not belong to them. A Class A misdemeanor can result in a |
13 | fine of up to $2,500 and a year behind bars. |

15 | Section 2: |
16 | All individuals or entities that have the ability to prescribe ozempic must only prescribe the drug |
17 | for individuals with type 2 diabetes. |
18 | If a individual or entity posses or prescribes ozempic for an individual they will be charged with |
19 | Class A Misdemeanor |

21 | Section 3: |
22 | The following bill will enhance funds towards TennCare. The money raised from the fines will be |
23 | reimbursed through Tennessee Healthcare. This bill will not cost the state anything. |

25 | Section 4: All laws or parts of laws in conflict with this are hereby repealed. |
26 | |
27 | Section 5: This act shall take effect January 1st, 2024, the public welfare requiring it. |
